What an amazing sustainable & fulfilling day. Not only did we set up a compost which creates food from 'waste' and reduce the amount of 'waste' our house creates, but we filled our bellies with delicious spicy cocoa & cookies. Two community members spoke to us about the cycle of life & how composting provides Keva & Kavannah (structure & intention) to our life. It was rewarding to set up our outdoor compost with an excited group and then look at an indoor worm compost & learn about compost tea.
This event has now added something new to not only the members of the Moishe House Silver Spring, but also to our community. Now we put our compostable scraps into the compost, scraps from our every day dinner & also from our larger MH events. It is also an opportunity to introduce more people to composting and how it works. Who knows, maybe they will leave and set one up in their house. And this 'new' technique of reducing waste will spread to more people.
