This January, Moishe House residents were invited to speak to participants of the JCC aspiring directors program. High level JCC employees with ambitions to become directors held a training conference in New Orleans and asked Moishe House to speak to the recovery issues of the the Jewish community and rebuilding in New Orleans. The JCC employees, staying at the Hotel Monteleon, hosted us for a Sunday night buffet. After the delicious dinner of barbeque chicken wings and chocolate bubka, Jonathan and Gill spoke for 30 minutes before an engaging question and answer session. Many of the employees were interested to learn how the Moishe House has been received in New Orleans, especially a community that is not considered a hotbed of Jewish activity. Moishe House New Orleans has not only thrived but also seen a vibrant resurgence of other Jewish groups targeted to young professionals. As one employee wrote to us "The program you and Gil did on Sunday night was great. The presentation was
informative and enlightening. Our group talked about it for days."
The JCC program later spent time volunteering in Broadmoor with the Free Church of the Annunciation, working with Ari Braverman and Rich Holden on Miss Brenda's house. According to an email from Joy, the director of the JCC training program "The highlight of the day was when Miss Brenda came home from work and met with us. She showed us inside the house and was so grateful for our help." Moishe Nola has been receiving more requests to host volunteer groups as Spring Break nears.
