Post regional retreat, I feel like our house has been in a really good place. Communication feels more open, and event ideas more diverse. And we've had some sweet ass, super fun events in the last month or so. We've had two Shabbats, both of which were manageable and enjoyable sizes (35-40 versus 75-85). We had a great Hanukkah party, complete with utterly ridiculous accoutrement (we have Eli to thank for our pirate pinata, party poppers, Hanukkah cookie cutters and glow in the dark magnets. I just don't know what we would have done without them!). And the day after the party we had a brunch gathering with delicious food and great people from our community. All in all it's been a great few months. In thinking about the upcoming year, I'd like our house to continue on this path, and a specific goal for me is that our house begins thinking of something really thoughtful to do with our 2010 savings budget. We've always put it to worthwhile use in the past, but I think we could do something a bit more meaningful if we start thinking and planning earlier in the year. So, all in all, looking forward to the coming year. Though we only have 2 more years til the world ends, I'm confident those two years will be great! (Just kidding. Or am I?).
