David P. - MHSF

Reflections on a dinner with Holocaust survivors held on April 22nd:

The misery of our history
Beneath our skin
In the far reaches of our mind
We sit, closer than the years between us

Stories we cling to
Pain, inescapable, makes us whole
Horrors we can't imagine,
But pray we will never forget

The faces of family lost
The smiles we never shared
A load carried, often silently
Is given a voice for one moment

Is it fear we pass on,
Or is it compassion?
What say will I have
On what peace will come?
