I spent more than half of december away from the MH portland....but had the fabulous opportunity to experience another MH, one in another country too! a week and a half ago, i went to MH vienna and experienced the most amazing hospitality from 3 individuals i had never even met. we immediately connected via ping pong and joking around. we spent the day touring vienna and seeing an art history museum, followed by having a nice kosher dinner. i was so impressed that their house was so "jewish," with jewish art/posters/items all over their flat and that the 3 guys living there were shomer shabbat, shomer kashrut, but also took the time to daven (pray) 3 times per day and put on tefillin each morning. it made me really happy to feel that another moishe house in the world has such an inclusive standard where all jews, kosher and non kosher, can all gather at the same place and eat the same food because it was kosher. i left feeling like i had 3 new friends and wished they all lived closer. i hope they can visit our house in portland so we can extend them the same hospitality and experiences they provided me during my visit!
