The end of May could have not come sooner for one Douglass Gardner. This month has brought upon us many horrible things, yet has also blessed us in many ways. In this month we have had a whole lot of MOISHE going on thanks to the addition of Ashley Warner. Our book club was hot stuff and was even written by a Jewish author, watch out Michael Chabon, your new book could be next (and if anyone feels like joining the book club either from near or afar, email eastbaymoishe@gmail.com). We had a great month of exciting Warriors Basketball that many people were able to take part of. On a different note, the man has gotten us down again, by telling us that to have a softball team in a Berkeley City league, we need to have had a team the year before. This give it to the people who have been there before approach befuddles and concerns me.
But alas, as summer approaches the flowers in the backyard have started to bloom, the grass is looking greener and life is good. Moishe house East Bay is definitely looking forward to a bright future, but there are still some clouds on the horizon. In a few short weeks we will say good bye to Issac Zones (a friend and a mentor) and move on with Moishe house in a new direction. With all the turmoil up top it is understandable that in the East Bay we have definitely felt a lack of support which is concerning. After watching the network of social change...well change... right underneath the feet of the people in the program I have begun to have my own fears. Is Moishe house the next program to become victim to budget cuts or planned withdrawals...is Moishe House beginning to lose the steam power behind it?
I hope for a bright future and pray that maybe somebody will actually read my blog, maybe even a comment?

Successful organizations are inherently built on the objective principles of strong leadership, communication, follow through, organization, hard work, experience, and a curiosity about how to make things constantly better. As a fellow member of the Moishe House community, I echo some of your sentiments Douglass, and am also curious about the direction Moishe Houses are headed. I too am sad to see Isaac go, as Moishe House was clearly one of the reasons he got out of bed every morning. The message is somewhere out there, albeit a little fuzzy, it has just been a bit of a challenge deciphering how we are all to interpret the subjective coordinates...
