Houses geographically closest to us are Chicago (5.5 hour drive) and the new Dallas house (7 hour drive). So planning activities or events with those houses provides a bit of a challenge, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a way to collaborate.
Collaboration isn't just about working together on projects. It is also about talking to each other, and representing the Moishe House family. Many of our community members in STL are graduate students, here for 3 to 5 years and then moving on or young professionals who are still transient. When leaving STL members of our community often want to continue the Moishe House experience in their new city, and we often put them in touch with Moishe Houses in other cities. For instance, one of our community members is graduating in May and leaving STL. Recently, she was interviewing for jobs in other cities, including Chicago and Philly. We put her in touch with the Moishe Houses in both cities, she even stayed at the house in Philly and was totally thrilled when she got a job offer in Philly that she already had friends there.
For us inter-house collaboration is having our local community also feel part of a bigger Moishe House community.
